Banafsheh Sayyad was born in Iran and has loved dance since childhood. Despite dance not being valued in her culture, she trained herself from a young age. After being forced to leave Iran during the 1979 Islamic Revolution, she learned to find home within herself through movement and connection to the divine feminine. She holds backgrounds in Tai Chi and Chinese medicine as an acupuncturist and has taught at Esalen Institute.
